Furze Down School Project

The Arts Society Buckingham provided funding for display boards for Furze Down School, Winslow, to enable them to put on an exhibition of the students' art work , paintings, collages and sculptures in the school Reception area. Furze Down is a Specialist School for Communication and Interaction, for students with Special Education Needs. Presenting work in a public space is an important exercise in raising self esteem for the students who can now see their work being viewed and appreciated by all who attend or visit the school. It is intended that there will be changing displays of art by the students throughout the year.

  Golden Jubilee Arts Fest 2018

'My Golden Moment' Young Arts Competition.

As most of you will be aware, The Arts Society Buckingham has been supporting young artists at the Royal Latin School (RLS), Buckingham, by funding 'Life Drawing' classes for 'A' Level students for the past year or so. The funding pays for a teacher and a model for 10 sessions during one term of each academic year.

Therefore, we were very pleased that, when the Chiltern Hills & Wyvern Areas 'My Golden Moment' competition came along to mark the 50th Anniversary of NADFAS, there was no shortage of entries from Royal Latin School students.  We were particularly pleased with the very positive support the RLS Head of Art, Lucy Fricker, gave to this competition.  From all the potential entries we selected 9 pieces of work to be submitted for the competition.  For final judging, the entries for the 17 to 25 years age group were reduced to a shortlist of 15, and 4 of those were by students from the RLS.

We are absolutely thrilled that the final judging placed students from the RLS 1st and 2nd , and another entry was commended:

1st  Bevan Hill Samson - Man with a Sword

                                                                2nd Tasha Creasey - Sisters

Commended Josie Blake - Watching the Goldfish

The other shortlisted entry was Georgina Howell's 'Girl Blowing Bubbles'.
